No-one has more successfully combined the diverse elements of British, Afro-American and old-timey music than Martin, whose solo shows are intense, eclectic, spellbinding and deeply moving events. Nominated an astounding 23 times in the 11 years of the BBC Folk Awards - more than any other performer - his latest album, True Stories, achieved an unprecedented 6 nominations in 2010.
