League, Literature and the Meaning of Life

Sat 14 November

Headingley Carnegie Stadium

Leeds LS6 3BU

Just a few hours before the giants of world rugby league go into battle in the Four Nations final, Carnegie Sporting Words Festival will be taking a fresh look at the sport’s links with literature.

Illustrated by readings and historic films, authors Tony Collins (Leeds Met), Dave Hadfield (The Independent), Phil Caplan and Tony Hannan (Scratching Shed Publishing) will discuss their books, the recent boom in rugby league literature and why writers as diverse as David Storey and Thomas Keneally have found the game so fascinating.
