Sam Taylor Wood's landscape series, Ghosts, was shot on the moors near Top Withens, where the fictional Wuthering Heights is set, and documents her own response to the landscape found within the novel. The work was originally shown as part of her 'Yes I No' exhibition at White Cube in 2008 and has been resized to be exhibited at the Bronte Parsonage Museum.

Branwell Brontë is among the most divisive figures in the history of literature, some perceiving him as having been a sort of freakishly talented guru to the sisters whose own talents deserve greater recognition; others that he was a feckless dilettante whose alcohol- and drug- fuelled antics caused more harm than good (a complete tool, in other words).

Sex, Drugs and Literature - The Infernal World of Branwell Brontë is a special new exhibition opening at Brontë Parsonage Museum, Haworth on 1st June focusing on the destructive – or is that destroyed? – life of the only brother to the 5 Brontë sisters.

To coincide with that, best-selling novelist Justin Picardie and Brontë biographer Juliet Barker will be discussing the life and creative legacy of Branwell, painter and occasional poet, in front of a captive audience at West Lane Baptist Centre, Haworth on 5th June.

Other exciting Brontë events this year include ITV’s brand new adaptation of Wuthering Heights starring Tom Hardy (fresh from his immense performance in Bronson) as Heathcliff, a Rajasthan-set Bollywood stage version of the same novel coming to Harrogate in June and, showing at Brontë Parsonage Museum from July, Ghosts, (the artist wot videoed Becks sleeping) Sam Taylor-Wood's exhibition of landscape photographs taken on’t moors in response, again, to Emily’s only published novel.
